Andrew Peutherer is a contemporary Scottish artist living and working in Glasgow on Scotland’s west coast. His Scottish landscape paintings are focused around his love for the mountains, Glens, Lochs, coastline and islands of The Outer and Inner Hebrides such as The Isle of Lewis, The Isle of Harris, The Isle of Skye, The Isle of Rum, The Isle of Tiree, The Isle of Eigg, The Isle of Eriskay, The Isle of Mull, The Isle of Barra, The Isle of Iona, The Isle of Islay, The Isle of Jura, The Uist’s, The Isle of Arran,The Isle of Bute and The West Coast and Highlands of Scotland.
His work is an attempt to capture the dramatic form of Scotland’s mountains and islands, unpredictable weather and light in a unique style that moves away from traditional landscape painting.
The stunning vibrant colours and layered textures in his paintings are created by experimenting with a variety of mediums including acrylic paint, oil paint, acrylic inks and spray paint.
These materials and his self taught techniques are combined to portray the mood of the sky and land, creating very graphic style images over organic layers.
